ABOUT ROB

Before Rob Nelson started writing and talking with people about how AI is changing education, he worked full-time at the University of Pennsylvania, overseeing campus-wide implementations of academic technology and directing institutional initiatives related to accreditation, new student orientation, student wellness, and undergraduate research. He continues to teach courses at Penn about the social context and history of educational technology. He writes online at AI Log about how the bundle of technologies we call artificial intelligence is shaping our work as educators, and what we should do about it.
Prior to Penn, Rob worked at Rutgers University as an academic advisor, taught first-year writing courses, served as a visiting assistant professor of American Studies, directed a program for Japanese students studying in the US, and earned an MEd in Educational Theory and a PhD in American History.
